Game Project 7

Specifications

X weeks 50%

For Grim the Gargoyle the assignment was to create a third person game.

We decided that we wanted to create a game inspired by Spyro the Dragon.

Responsibilites this Project

This project I was responsible for :

The Mimic, Crafting keyed animations

The player, shared responsibility on crafting keyed animations and cleaning mocap data

The Mimic

a scary looking chest which houses a very scared person.

While making the animations for the mimic we wanted it to have a very goofy animation style. We took a lot of inspiration from Disney animations

It was difficult to get some of the animations to play correctly together. But the effort was worth it in the end, this moveset is on that I am proud to present.

Grim the Gargoyle

A newly awoken Gargoyle fated to become king

Animating the Gargoyle was a ton of fun. We wanted him to feel like he is completely new to the world which houses him.

He charges and dashes at immense speeds. All while beating up strange creatures.

The most difficult part of animating Grim was figuring out how he would move. We spent a lot of time planning his animations have a coherent moveset.

But it was all worth it. Look at him go!

Grim has different variations of charging in air depending if you jump or if you start charging while already in the air, this led to smooth and reactive gameplay feel.
